Chocolate Coconut Cake, Release Week Blues and More
Baking and Eating Our Anxiety
I talked on Threads this week about making a chocolate cake with cream cheese frosting and toasted coconut.
She came out really pretty. I’m not sharing the recipe though, because I’m not happy with the cake. It’s too dry and I have some work to do. (I realized I didn’t add pudding mix, which I think might be the issue, but more experimentation coming. By summer’s end we’ll get this one.)
I AM happy with look of it though.
Yes, we’re still on our dried flowers BS
Anything Other Than You comes out next week and I am…coping. I dove headfirst into the revisions for Book 2 in this series last week, which is both helping and making it worse? I love this world and these characters and I’m now terrified that they’ll be rejected. But! I have some fun things coming up for you all for release week, so I hope you stick around!
What I’m Reading:
Wings of Living Flame by Dakotah Gumm - Dakotah’s a friend, and she generously gave me an early copy of her Firebird retelling. It’s also a sequel to Song of The Demon Court (her Pied Piper retelling, which I am obsessed with!) and I was so happy to sink back into Dakotah’s gorgeous magical reimagining of medieval Europe, her characters who would disappear in act 1 of most romantasy books taking the lead. It releases on May 11, and I can’t wait to see people chat it up.
What I’m Listening To:
Beyonce.
I’m going to the Cowboy Carter tour on May 22 and I CANNOT wait. I’ve been listening to more Beyonce than usual and it’s leading me to…not remember, exactly, how much I love Beyonce, because like, it’s Beyonce, I always love her, but I’m just super excited about Beyonce right now.
Links And Other Stuff
Things are gearing up over on Of Dust And Dragons…in fact tomorrow we might even be hearing from an old friend…
Anything Other Than You comes out on Tuesday!!!!!!! (WHAAATTTT???) - It’ll be included with Kindle Unlimited Subscriptions, for paperback on Amazon, and anywhere books are sold. (But I’d really love it if you ordered through Bookshop.org and supported a local indie.)
You can still sign up for the ARC of Can’t Fight The Moonlight, and I’ll have some fun stuff regarding that book soon, too.
As always, you can read my random yappings on Threads and over on Instagram I’ve been sharing some of the songs that inspired Jake and Rebecca’s love story!
